Location in the artwork: Arles, France
This painting of pink peach trees in bloom was originally intended as part of a triptych. Van Gogh had wanted to organise the series of orchards he painted in the spring of 1888 into groups of three. The peach blossom in this painting was originally pink, but the paint has now become so heavily discoloured that it has turned white.
